Hero Philanthropy Donates $5,000 to The Glaucoma Foundation at 42nd Anniversary Gala

This donation is part of a $100,000 commitment from Hero Philanthropy to make an impact on patient advocacy organizations.

New York City, N.Y. (April 17, 2026)—Hero Philanthropy proudly announces a $5,000 donation to The Glaucoma Foundation, which was presented at the Foundation’s 42nd Anniversary Gala on April 16 in New York City.

 

The donation was a celebration of the partnership between My Hero 360® and The Glaucoma Foundation and was made in honor of a recent hero featured on the series, Jahkori Dopwell Hall.

 

Dopwell Hall is an accomplished artist and educator who has lived with primarily congenital glaucoma since he was 6 months old. Despite undergoing surgeries and navigating vision impairment, his journey is a story of resilience. A graduate of the prestigious Ringling College of Art and Design, Dopwell Hall did not allow his diagnosis to be a barrier. Now an educator to the next generation of artists, his story shows that art is in the eye of the beholder.

Elena Sturman, CEO of The Glaucoma Foundation, accepted the donation on behalf of the Foundation. Of the organization's mission, she said, "We want to find a cure for glaucoma through innovative research, education, and collaboration. Our ultimate goal is to improve the lives of glaucoma patients around the world because everything we do is with the patient in mind.”

 

Of the donation from Hero Philanthropy, Sturman said, "The Glaucoma Foundation is a nonprofit, so contributions from individuals, institutions, corporations, and foundations are our bloodline. Without them, we cannot provide support for cutting-edge research and education to so many patients and increase visibility for glaucoma.”

 

The donation from Hero Philanthropy was recognized during The Glaucoma Foundation’s 42nd Anniversary Gala at the Mandarin Oriental in New York City, N.Y. The donation supports the Foundation’s ability to fund innovative research and provide resources for individuals and families affected by glaucoma.
