As of 2026, nineteen (19) US states have enacted comprehensive consumer privacy laws. If you are a resident of one of these states, you may have specific rights regarding your personal information, including the right to access, delete, correct, and opt out of the sale or sharing of your data.

Summary of Common Privacy Rights
While each state law has unique provisions, most comprehensive state privacy laws provide residents with some or all of the following rights:
- Right to Know / Access: Request information about what personal data we collect, use, and share. Request a copy of your personal data.
- Right to Delete: Request that we delete personal data we have collected about you, subject to certain exceptions.
- Right to Correct: Request that we correct inaccurate personal data. (Available in most but not all states.)
- Right to Data Portability: Receive a copy of your personal data in a portable, readily usable format.
- Right to Opt Out of Sale: Direct us to stop selling your personal data to third parties.
- Right to Opt Out of Targeted Advertising: Direct us to stop using your personal data for targeted advertising.
- Right to Opt Out of Profiling: Direct us to stop profiling you for decisions that produce legal or similarly significant effects. (Available in most but not all states.)
- Right to Non-Discrimination: We will not treat you differently for exercising your privacy rights.
- Right to Appeal: If we deny your request, you may appeal our decision. (Available in most but not all states.)
Global Privacy Control & Universal Opt-Out
IHM honors Global Privacy Control (GPC) signals and other universal opt-out mechanisms recognized under state privacy laws. If your browser or device sends a GPC signal, we will treat that signal as a valid request to opt out of the sale and sharing of your personal information and targeted advertising, to the extent required by applicable law.

Healthcare-Specific Privacy Information
As a healthcare media and marketing company, IHM takes additional care with health-related information:
- HIPAA: IHM is not a covered entity or business associate under HIPAA. The information we process is not "protected health information" under HIPAA. However, we recognize that some state privacy laws (including California, Maryland, Delaware, and Minnesota) treat health data as sensitive personal information requiring heightened protections, and we comply with those requirements.
- Health data sensitivity: Content you access on our healthcare-focused websites may reveal health-related interests. We treat this as sensitive data where required by applicable state law.
- DMD Healthcare Communications Network: Registration on our sites may include enrollment in the DMD Network. You may opt out at any time. See our Privacy Policy for details.
