The Breast Cancer Research Foundation (BCRF) is a nonprofit organization committed to preventing and curing breast cancer by funding the world's most promising research.
Established in 1993 by Evelyn H. Lauder, BCRF has become the largest private funder of breast cancer research globally.
In the 2024-2025 period, BCRF is investing $70.3 million to support over 260 scientists across 15 countries, marking its largest annual research investment to date. This funding encompasses various aspects of breast cancer research, including tumor biology, genetics, prevention, treatment, metastasis, and survivorship.
BCRF is dedicated to addressing disparities in breast cancer outcomes. Notably, Black women are 40% more likely to die from breast cancer than white women. To combat this, BCRF has launched the Health Equity Initiative in partnership with The Estée Lauder Companies Charitable Foundation, aiming to understand and eliminate these disparities.
The foundation also emphasizes metastatic breast cancer (MBC) research, allocating nearly half of its annual funding to this area. Through the Evelyn H. Lauder Founder’s Fund, BCRF supports the AURORA projects, the most extensive international effort dedicated to MBC research, providing crucial insights into the molecular mechanisms driving metastasis.
BCRF's mission is to end breast cancer by advancing research worldwide, striving for a future where the disease no longer poses a threat to lives.
