About

Founded in 1899, Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital Somerset provides comprehensive emergency, medical/surgical, and rehabilitative services to residents throughout central New Jersey.

The hospital’s cardiology program is one of the most experienced in the state, with one of the highest volumes of cardiac procedures among hospitals without cardiac surgery.

Its Steeplechase Cancer Center provides state‐of‐the‐art outpatient cancer care services, including radiation oncology, 3‐D mammography, infusion therapy, a lung cancer screening program, a smoking cessation program, nutritional counseling, complementary medicine services, and a boutique. The center is a clinical research affiliate of Rutgers Cancer Institute.

The Joint Surgery Center at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital Somerset provides an integrated approach to patient care, resulting in superior outcomes.

The Edward and Anita Hogan Neuroscience Pavilion enhances care for patients who have had a stroke or other neurological disorders, such as Parkinson’s disease or seizure disorders. The pavilion features private patient rooms, a rehabilitation gym and an interactive patient education network.

RWJUH Somerset’s Eating Disorders Program provides specialized inpatient, outpatient, and partial hospitalization services. The hospital’s newly renovated maternity unit includes a Level II Intermediate Care Nursery staffed 24/7 by a board‐certified neonatologist and specially trained nurses.

A teaching hospital affiliated with Rutgers Robert Wood Johnson Medical School, the hospital maintains a family medicine residency program with 21 residents.

The newly opened Center for Wound Healing offers hyperbaric oxygen therapy, for non‐healing wounds. The hospital also offers outpatient services at convenient locations in Central New Jersey, including the Sports Physical Therapy and Performance Center in Bridgewater; Sports Physical Therapy in Hillsborough, Princeton, and Flemington; and a comprehensive sleep center and laboratory services in Hillsborough.

Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital Somerset is the first hospital in New Jersey to offer specialized primary care services for the LGBTQIA community at our PROUD Family Health at RWJ Somerset Family Practice. PROUD Family Health is committed to providing a safe and supportive environment where LGBTQIA patients can get the medical care they need at all stages of life, including hormone therapy and monitoring and health education and counseling. In addition, the hospital offers a monthly support group for family members of transgender individuals.

A wide array of free or low‐cost health education programs, screenings, and support groups are also provided to the community.
